Director of Operations
SUMMARY:
Fontarome is looking for a passionate chemical engineer to join us as Director of Operations. This newly created position reports directly to the President. The Director of Operations oversees manufacturing, maintenance, shipping/receiving, and engineering. Priorities include: productivity, cost improvement, inventory management, root cause problem-solving, cGMP compliance, and aesthetic upgrades consistent with Fontarome’s corporate vision, mission, and culture.

Fontarome is a small but growing (sales up over 30 %) fine chemical manufacturer with headquarters and manufacturing in St. Francis, WI and distribution center in France.

REPORTS TO: President

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Productivity:

·         Assist in the development of appropriate metrics for Operations productivity and be responsible for publishing these figures.

Aesthetic Upgrades:

·         Continuously identify areas for aesthetic improvement and lead the implementation of such projects.

Cost Improvement:

·         Continuously identify areas for cost improvement and lead the implementation of such projects.

Root Cause Problem Solving:

·         Utilize problem solving skills and share knowledge to build a proactive problem solving culture throughout the Operations areas.

Personnel:

·         Oversee and manage all elements of personnel in Operations including 3 direct reports

Scheduling:

·         Schedule production batches based on sales orders, minimum inventory requirements, and equipment availability.

·         Maintain and update the Production Schedule on a daily basis providing immediate feedback to ensure excellent service to our customers.

Aesthetics:

·         Continuously make suggestions for improvements that will enhance the aesthetics of Operations.

Regulatory – cGMP:
·         Ensure all pertinent work is conducted in compliance with cGMP regulations as directed by Quality Assurance.

Regulatory – Environmental:
·         Ensure that Fontarome's Environmental procedures are being followed in Production.

Regulatory Compliance – Hazardous Waste:
·         Ensure Fontarome is following all regulatory guidelines for hazardous waste. 

·         Actively look to reduce Fontarome's hazardous waste costs.

Safety:
·         Ensure Operations staff and procedures are in compliance with OSHA regulations and have training conducted as necessary.

·         Maintain sufficient inventory of safety supplies.

·         Identify when PHAs are required and ensure that they are efficiently conducted.

Packaging/Shipping/Receiving:

·         Ensure that SOPs are being followed in this area.

·         Ensure that this "last-line-of-defense" for Fontarome's products is secure and consistently delivering a well-packaged product.

PREREQUISITES:
Education & Experience:
Minimum B.S. in Chemical Engineering and at least three years of experience in a chemical manufacturing setting.

REQUIREMENTS:
·         Excellent written and oral communication skills.

·         Detail-oriented and good documentation mentality.
·         Excellent with MS Excel and a technology advocate.

On Going Training:
cGMP, Problem-solving, Six Sigma, equipment, safety, environmental, and operations training, computer. 
 
Production/ Chemical Operators
